Obituary of Charles Ashley Burt

Charles Ashley Burt (Bunny), age 71, passed away with a smile on his face on August 3, 2024 in the South Shore University Hospital, Bayshore, New York after periods of illness. Visitation will be at 9:00am on August 27 th , 2024 at New Life Worship Center, 562 Broad Hollow Rd, Melville, NY 11747 Funeral services immediately following at 11:00am, with Pastor Rose of New Life Worship Center officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, New York. Arrangements are by Joseph Slinger-Hasgill Funeral Services, Amityville, New York. Charles Ashley Burt (Bunny) was born in Riversdale, St. Catherine Jamaica to Gerald and Mae Burt on December, 30, 1952. He attended Berwick Primary School in St. Catherine Jamaica, and went on to learn the trade of being an Auto Mechanic. He worked as a mechanic with the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation and was self-employed for many years before migrating to the United States of America. Shortly after arriving in New York, he met Sandra and they were married on December 30, 1995. He worked as a Newspaper delivery person for a while and then continued his mechanic work at Toyota Lift of New York, and Rayburn/Educational Bus Company. Charles Ashley Burt (Bunny) is preceded in death by his father Gerald F. Burt, who passed awayin 2001. Charles Ashley Burt (Bunny) is survived by his wife of 28 ½ years, Sandra; Children: Jeffery Johnson (Craig), Tishina Cox, Mordecai and Marville; Foster children: Peta-Gay Burt-Anderson, Kirk Whitton, Heather Everin, Noreica Whitton, and Vinnelle Grant; Brothers and sisters: Faith Yvonne (Johnson), Avis Joyce (Smikle), Charlene (Hart), Patrick, Angela (Russell), Donald Barrington, Wayne, Gerald, Jennifer (Burt-Young), and Paul; Mother: Ivy Mae Burt; 16 nieces, 16 nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of cousins and friends. I have kept the faith, I have fought the good fight, and I have finished the race.
