Obituary of Mary Mays Walton

Mary Mays Alton was born to Albert Mays and Sherry Brown on January 15, 1923 in Shorter Alabama. As a youth, Mary joined the Lily Hill Baptist Church in her hometown where she attended regularly. Mary moved her family to Chicago for a better life but she later returned to Alabama, but this time to Birmingham. IN 1953, Mary married Jodie Walton, Sr. The family then moved to Amityville NY for the sole purpose of a making a better life for her family. Once in Amityville, she joined the Hollywood Baptist Church, now Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral. With the help of God she worked a number of different jobs ranging from domestic care to factory work. Mary provided childcare to several families in her community as well as her own. All who knew her understood her to be a person of character and strong morals. She always wanted what was best for everyone she came in contact with.
