Obituary of Leroy Duff
Leroy Duff, Sr., affectionately called Dap Daddy, was born in Brent, Alabama on September 4th, 1932 to Bill Lester Duff, and Murda Rich Duff, who preceded him in death. He was the 5th child of eleven siblings. Two brothers, Samuel and Charlie and three sisters, Lenora Cox, Birlee Glover and Mary McPherson preceded him in death. Leroy departed this life on December 5th, 2013 from the Cold Spring Hills Rehabilitation Center, Woodbury, New York, at the age of eighty one.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He was a member of the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully until his health failed him. He loved good singing and good preaching.
He was united in marriage in 1975 in Huntington, New York, to the former Carrie Guine. To this union one son was born, Leroy Duff, Jr. They were also proud parents of a stepson, Michael Jackson, and an adopted daughter, Nancy Grad (Red).
Leroy was a longtime resident of Riverhead, New York, after which, he moved to Huntington, New York. He worked until his retirement, as a landscaper, employed by Donald Pollick Landscaping Company, Westbury, New York.
He enjoyed being outside. He loved fishing, hunting, laughing, joking and having fun. He prided himself on cooking exotic foods. Mountain oysters were a favorite (smile), along with moose and bear meat. He enjoyed having friends over, and he loved to visit people. He was known as the mayor of the neighborhood. Everyone knew him and loved him. Driving his electric wheelchair all over different places was a joy to him. He truly enjoyed life, and he lived it to the fullest. He will be missed!
He leaves to cherish his memories:
His beloved wife, Carrie: 2 sons, Leroy, Jr., and Michael; a devoted daughter, Nancy Grad; 3 sisters, Irene Marshall of Carney's Pt., New Jersey, Gertrude Jones, Westhampton Care Center, Westhampton, New York and Jean Ann Brown, Richmond, Virginia; 2 brothers, Preston Duff, Huntington, New York and Lester Duff, Jr. (Yvette) Charlotte, North Carolina; 2 brothers in law, Leonard Guine (Ann) and Charles Guine (Doreen); best childhood friend Eddie Booker; best friend, Joseph Keels; beloved goddaughter, Juanita Collins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We loved him - but we know - God loved him best.
