Obituary of Renee Miller Reid
Renee Miller Reid was born on February 13, 1948 in New York, New York.
Surrounded by loving family members, she transitioned from this earth to eternal
life with the Lord on October 18, 2014 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Renee was born to Ellen Isabel Daway and Archer Alexander Miller. Renee grew
up in a loving home that was filled with her grandmother, mother, father and seven
siblings in a brownstone in Brooklyn, NY. She attended elementary and middle
school in Brooklyn and Central High School in New York City,
Renee met and fell in love with Nathaniel Reid. They married in 1965 and with
this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Tonya Marie Miller.
Renee was employed with the New York City Mayor's Office. She worked under
three mayoral administrations: Mayor Koch, Mayor Dinkins and Mayor Giuliani.
During this time she decided to continue her education by earning her
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Public Relations.
Renee later relocated to South Carolina and became a member of
The Church House of Ministries Christian Church where she
served faithfully until her health declined.
Renee enjoyed life, music, reading, and most of all laughter. When she laughed, we
all laughed along with her whether we knew what she was laughing at or not. She
was also a very giving person to all who knew her. She positively impacted
the lives of many and will be missed greatly.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ellen Daway and Archer Miller; siblings,
Archer Miller, John Miller, Joseph Miller and Evelyn Rose Armond;
and sister-in-law, Norma Adina Heron.
