Obituary of Shearline J. Smith

Shearline Joy Linton-Smith was born on November 27th, 1968 to Mr. and Mrs. Larry and Pearline Linton in Ontario Canada. She is the third of her parents' four children. In 1977 Shearline's family moved to the United States and settled in the Bronx, New York. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1988. Shearline began a career with Avis Car Rental that has lasted 26 years. The Smith family has lived in Wyandanch, New York since 2004. Irving has described his wife Shearline as the love of his life; the most beautiful person he has ever known. They met in 1992 while both working for Avis. They were married on February 14, 2004. Family has always been a priority for Shearline. Her husband and her children would like to highlight some special aspects of her character and personality. Everyone knows that Shearline's cooking is beyond compare - always turning out food that goes way beyond finger licking good. She has always been a charming, fun, and sophisticated hostess, at her house or at yours. Irvingpoints out that no matter what time he got home from work, that Shearline always had his dinner prepared and waiting for him. He credits the impeccable way she managed their home with early experiences she had as her mother's helper, assisting in the upkeep of that home and the rearing of her siblings. He says that Shearline introduced him to the best ribs on the planet by taking him to Tony Roma's Steak House. Marcus says that his mom has been the most incredible woman you can ever meet. He highlights her wonderful smile and her outgoing, spontaneous personality. Marcus also highlights her spirit, aura and personality as the most wonderful thing you can ever be around. He also points out that Shearline would jump off a bridge into an ocean with sharks and swim to you, to make sure you were satisfied. Miles points out that his mother was hard working all her life and that she was very intelligent. He says that if he had a problem, no matter what it was, that he knew he could ask her for the best advice, Irene says that her mother's birthday was the day an angel was sent from above. She also says, "My mom Shearline was so beautiful. Everywhere we went, a guy would try to talk to her and I would be her body guard, right by her side, to tell him to back off my momma." Irene states that Shearline would play artists like Babyface, Eric Benet, Janet Jackson and Jessie Powell on repeat all night while cleaning, cooking and dancing- having a great time. Irene describes her mom as a superwoman, gone too soon, but that God wants her back because he probably missed her beautiful smile. Shearline was called to rest on March 4, 2015 after a short illness. She leaves to remember her life and legacy: her husband Irving Smith; her children Andrew Wilson, Marcus Aaron Smith, Irene Amy Smith, and Myles James Smith; her siblings Donovan Ferguson, Rickey Ferguson, Laurie Rivera and Lavonie Hamler; a host of other relatives and devoted friends. Shearline would say to all of you, "I still got you."
