Obituary of Rosetta Baskerville

Rosetta Baskerville, 71 was called home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2021. She was born on October 10, 1950, in Elberton, GA. She was a member of the West Side Presbyterian Church in Elberton. She was active in Sunday School, the choir and was a Willing Worker. After graduating High School, she moved to Amityville, NY. where she was baptized at the New Hope Institutional Baptist Church. She was in the choir, Pastor’s Aid, and a Missionary. Rosetta became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Then she joined the military. While in the army, Rosetta worked as a medic, met and married her husband, James Osborne Baskerville, who she is married to for 48 years. After her discharge from the army, she returned to Amityville, where she worked at Suffolk State, various nursing homes and hospitals, helping and caring for people. Eventually, she decided to further her education in nursing. She attended and graduated from the R.N. Program at Farmingdale College. Following graduation from the R.N. Program, she worked at various nursing homes, was a supervisor and became Assistant Director of Nursing enabling her to ensure the proper care of patients, train staff, and work with families of patients. Rosetta became a Deacon at New Hope Institutional Baptist Church. She was an Usher, Nurse, Women’s Dept. member, Intercessory Prayer member. She studied and lived according to the Lord’s Word. Rosetta was a great leader, always reaching out to others and helping in any way she could. Rosetta is survived by her husband, James Osborne Baskerville, her son Robert Everett Baskerville; 3 sisters, Varie J. Milne (Rome, NY); Carolyn Fernandez and Colleen Riddick (Connecticut); one brother, James N. Williams, Sr. (Elberton, GA); 3 aunts, Jereleane Givens (Stone Mountain, GA), Sarah M. Hall (Atlanta, GA), Vivian C. Hamm (Elberton, GA); one uncle, Horace White (Syracuse, NY); Nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by her mother Lizzie Williams, her father John Downer, her sons, James Osborne Baskerville II, Jason Christopher; brother James A. Downer; brother Curtis N. Jones and Gregory I. Williams; one sister Mercedes Kitrell and five uncles; Jimmy; Tommy Joe, Abraham, Otis Lee and William Nathaniel White. Rosetta will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and those who knew her. We love you Rosetta, but God loves you more, and He felt it was time to end your suffering and bring you home.
