Obituary of Wanda Lucille Perry

Wanda Lucille Perry, daughter of the late Lonnie Perry and Beatrice Gazelle Brown-Perry, was born June 2nd, 1940, in Bluefield West Virginia. On April 16th, 2023 at 5:00am at The Good Samaritan Hospital (Long Island), a loving, dedicated, joyful life on this side of her journey came to a close. She was 82 years and 10 months old. Wanda received her faith in Christ at a very early age. She rededicated her life to Christ on May 22nd, 2022 at her home church in Montclair, NJ. Wanda graduated from Park Central High School in Bluefield, West Virginia. After graduation she attended San Jose State University, then matriculated to New York Medical College where she received her degree in nursing. She then went on to work at Flower 5th Ave Hospital in Harlem until its closing. She then moved on to Lenox Hill Hospital where she retired after 42 years of service. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Lois Reed-Hogan, sister Jena May Perry Mumford, her daughter Tamara Carey-Rainey, son-in-law Penoye Rainey, son-in-law Joseph Xavier Steward, and nephews Stephen Francis Perry and Darren Mumford. She leaves to cherish her memories: Her brother Leslie Blair Perry and sister-in-law Carol Jones Perry. Her surviving children - Calvin Ray Carey (wife, Gwendolyn Carey) of Long Island, Jacob Stevenson Carey (wife, Judith Anne Carey) of Staten Island, and Andrea Wallace Steward of New Jersey. Her grandchildren - Jennifer Sheree Carey-Charles (husband, Hugues Charles), Nina Cornelia Carey-Glover (husband, Theodore Glover), Steven Rondell Carey (wife, Mahlory Carey), Rachel Lee-Carey Rojas (husband, Giancarlo Rojas), Justin Marquise Carey, Jason Thomas Carey, Tyler Christopher Carey, Jordan Alexander Carey, Joshua Rainey, and Jadea Rainey. Her great-grandchildren - Julia Ann Carey- Patterson, Xavier Christian Carey, Surai Sheila Carey, Brandon Nicholas Glover, Kai Julian Carey, Shane Anthony Glover, Kian Jacob Xavier Carey, Kaiden Jerome Carey, and Gianluca Francisco Rojas. Her great-great-grandchild, Annabelle Rose Manea.
